“Who shall say what is possible or impossible? In these spheres of action one cannot tell without a trial.” Winston Churchill
Heat, pressure, trials: they all reveal cracks, the cracks in us and the cracks in others. It is grace that forgives and empowers us, broken as we are, to continue in trial, continue under pressure . Yet, without a trial, how will we ever know what we are capable of, what we can or cannot do at any given time? We build our lives so as to insulate ourselves and our loved ones from the pain associated with difficulty. But in reality, it is difficulty that carves the character in us that we need to progress.
Jesus was tried (Matthew 4:1-11).
Paul was tried (2 Corinthians 11:24-29).
Peter was tried (Acts 12:1-5).
We, too, shall be tried. And until then, who is to say what we can or cannot do?
