The following is an excerpt from my book How to Live a Non-Proverbial Life: Lessons from the Book of Proverbs. It’s available here.
The ugly truth is, the majority of our problems are not our problems. Our real problems are the left over consequences of our inability to see a situation through to the end, be it a disagreement with our spouse, an argument with a friend, or a problem with a project at work. If we took better care of ourselves–if we had more strength–then we would not “faint in the day of adversity.” The non-proverbial life requires fortitude (60).
